Pakistani security sources claim an attack at Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi ‘intercepted’
Loud booms were heard in the twin Pakistani cities of Rawalpindi and the capital Islamabad about 2:30am (21:30 GMT), caused by a “ballistic missile” strike targeting Nur Khan airbase, according to security sources.
The base is often used by Pakistani leaders and foreign dignitaries when travelling to and from Pakistan.
Earlier on Friday, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, landed at Nur Khan airbase for his trip.
India has fired ballistic missiles that fell in its own territory, says Pakistan’s military
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the director general of the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, claims that India has fired “six ballistic missiles” that fell on its own territory.
The military spokesperson delivered the address in the early hours of Saturday and alleged that India had fired missiles at a Sikh community on its own soil.
Chaudhry claimed that five missiles fell in Amritsar and one missile fell in Adampur, both cities in the Indian state of Punjab.
